XEmacs - The Next Generation
Emacs Lisp has served Emacs and XEmacs admirably through many
evolutions of the editor. With ever new enhancements and a
growing amount of third-party code, Elisp is showing its age; it
is due for a major overhaul and that means replacement by a more
modern, standard programming language. Many design and
implementation issues are closely interrelated with this. This
page is meant to collect material related to the important issues
concerning a swap of Emacs's Lisp engine.
